Trinity Design Engineering members provided the design modification for a commercial power plant to upgrade the two-unit site's Generator Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR). This support included attendance during the Factory Acceptance Testing of the new AVR as well as on-site support during installation and testing.
A two-unit site built and commissioned in the 1970's still used the same 55MVA Unit Auxiliary Transformers. Trinity Design Engineering members developed the design modification to replace two transformers, one for each unit, to ensure continued operation into the future. Similar to the Generator AVR modification, this project also included on-site support during the Factory Acceptance testing as well as during final installation.
After a few incidents of fallen conductors, or open phases, on an electrical distribution system, the electrical power industry was required to implement protection to mitigate the effects of open phase conditions. Trinity Design engineers performed multiple design modifications across several different sites, as well as different open phase detection philosophies. As with most projects supported by our engineers, each Open Phase Detection modification included on-site support during Factory Acceptance Testing and final installation.
